Tommy Cronin J1000 Junior Championship Driver

C&M Motorsport Sales welcomed Tommy Cronin as an ambassador and sponsored driver during the 2023 and 2024 season for events in the Irish rallying scene.

Tommy Cronin is now in his second year of sponsorship with C&M Motorsport. He has always had a massive interest in rallying from a very young age. Tommy started out racing in hotrod cars on grass at East Cork Hotrod Club at the age of 10 in a Nissan Micra. Tommy won the Junior Championship in his second year racing.

Tommy then started rallying at the age of 14 in a J1000 Toyota Aygo that was built by Dunne Motorsport Engineering. His first rally was the Killarney Forestry Rally in 2022 and he did the whole championship progressing every round. In 2023, Tommy got his first podium in the J1000 finishing 3rd in the Tipperary Forestry rally. At the next round at the Moonraker Forestry Rally Tommy got his 1st win in the J1000’s and was delighted with this result. Tommy also came 1st in class at the Boggerragh Rallysprint run at Christmas in 2023.

On to 2024 and this year C&M Motorsport came onboard as Tommy’s main sponsor and placed Tommy as a brand ambassador. At the first round at Killarney Forestry Rally we finished second in class and we were very happy with this result. Tommy then came third in class in Carrick On Suir Forestry Rally and he currently lead both the sligo pallets J1000 Forestry Championship and also the MIJRS J1000 championship by one point.

Tommy recently purchased a buggy and he has done two tar sprints so far finishing 5th and 4th overall and once he turns 17 Tommy will be doing quarry and grass events in the buggy.

“I would like to say a big thanks to my Navigator Derek Butler for a top job on the notes. I would also like to thank Dave Dunne and the lads at DME for running the car at each event and to my Mum, Dad and Dick for giving me the chance to go rallying. Also a massive thank you to everyone at C&M Motorsport for coming onboard for the 2024 season”

Keep an eye out on our social medias for all of Tommy’s racing updates as he has a bright future ahead of him!
