C&M Motorsport Sales welcomed Jon Armstrong as an ambassador and sponsored driver during the 2023 season, in which he represented M-Sport Poland in the European Rally Championship, becoming the ERC3 Champion.

Having helped develop the latest Ford Fiesta Rally3 Evo as one of the official test drivers, Jon was given the privilege of giving the Rally3 Evo its competition debut at Rally Canarias.

In 2022, whilst fighting for the Junior WRC championship, Jon held a fundraiser in order to make the start line of the finale at the Acropolis Rally. C&M Motorsport M.D. Martin McKenna provided support for this event, which not only allowed Jon to raise the funds required for the final Junior WRC round, but it kick-started a closer relationship moving into the next season.

Like many rally drivers, Jon started his competitive driving in local Rally Sprints at the age of 13, becoming the RSA Junior Champion three times and continued to hone his skills there until turning 17, when he moved into Stage Rallying.

From here, Jon’s career moved forward, showing pace in both the British and European Junior series before reaching the World Championship in 2016 thanks to a scholarship in the Drive DMACK Fiesta Trophy, which was achieved by winning the DMACK Shootout at Dovenby M-Sport. During the 2016 season, he was able to win two rounds and secure two prize drives in the 2017 onboard a Ford Fiesta R5.

On his debut outing in an R5 car at Rally Germany, Jon was able to match some of the most experienced WRC2 drivers and score a fastest stage time. However, without any further WRC2 drives in 2018 and being unable to find the required budget to keep driving at R5 level, he turned his attention to eSports and became the virtual World Rally Champion.

Winning the WRC eSports title helped open up the path back into real rally driving once again and Jon had his sights on the Junior WRC Championship. In both 2021 & 2022 Jon narrowly missed out on the Junior WRC title, finishing runner up both seasons.

For the 2023 season, a brilliant opportunity arose for the Fermanagh man to drive in the European Rally Championship with M-Sport Poland and pilot their Ford Fiesta Rally3 Evo. C&M Motorsport Sales are proud to have supported a massively successful campaign and recently we welcomed Jon to our showroom for a tour of facilities and a chance to celebrate his ERC3 title.
